Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located many other vandalized cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the residents for details.
An important political figure said the attack left him stunned and needed to be solved quickly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
